As a natural leader, you will manage, mentor and inspire our creative team, shaping the reputation and future of our business in Dubai and across our international group.
If you have outstanding conceptualisation skills and a real talent for leading people, we’ll offer you a great chance to make a huge difference to what we do and to champion our creative product.
You will have
A bachelor degree or higher; extensive experience and proven track record in a similar role; B2B experience; cross discipline understanding of Design, Advertising, Brand & Strategy, PR and Digital Media.
The oil and gas industry is one of the largest and most exciting industries in the world and the importance of the Middle East is rapidly expanding, as it becomes the new energy hub. When it comes to marketing & communications in this sector, it is extremely varied, wide ranging, interesting and always challenging. We are now seeking an oil & gas specialist, based in Dubai or Abu Dhabi to help us expand our offering in the Middle East. In comparison to other PR and Marketing sectors, oil and gas communications combines both a focus on local and international coverage, together with consumer and B2B. And we don’t deal in the small fry; oil and gas clients talk in millions, billions and in some cases trillions of dollars, so there is a considerable amount of prestige to it. For anyone with a good PR background and an enthusiasm to learn about oil and gas there are fantastic opportunities including attendance at the world’s major oil and gas exhibitions and recognition on the global stage.
You will be educated to degree level with PR/Marketing and English as majors or equivalent. The ability to accurately write concise, clean copy is essential and you’ll be able to provide examples of press releases and articles of 2,000 words or more. With a proven track record in public relations/marketing strategy, preferably in the oil and gas industry, although some prior knowledge and an enthusiasm to learn is sufficient as a start, you will have plenty of B2B experience. You must be a quick learner and be able to translate complex technology into terms that the layman can understand. You’ll need to lead by example in terms of creativity and encourage the creative process in other team members. You must be able to use experience to analyse and evaluate ideas, proposed campaigns and suggested strategies and be clear in your decision-making and be receptive to ideas from colleagues. You’ll drive team activity from the helm, be supportive, flexible, adaptable and versatile and as a team member you must be prepared to create corporate communications strategies and be structured in working practices.
You must be able to get on with all kinds of people at varying levels and from diverse cultures. As an account director you have to work as a team member but also as the team leader, which is essential. You’ll know how to accept praise on behalf of the team, accept criticism as head of the team and instigate reviews among team members if required. You must have clear motivation to do well, act with maturity and patience, tolerance and understanding. With unlimited enthusiasm and energy, which you share with your team, you’ll have a total appreciation that the global oil and gas industry operates in every time zone and so must you.
This is a quote from one of our leading oil & gas Account Directors in the UK:
“I enjoy working in the oil and gas industry because it is the most powerful industry in the world and we get to operate on a truly global scale. Oil is in almost everything in our lives, from petrol to plastic to lipstick to …whatever. In technology terms the technology used is the most advanced in the world. And one of the best things is when petrol prices go up I understand why, and when people ask me about the price of oil I can tell them what is going to happen, and when I go into a press room in Houston or Norway or Aberdeen or Abu Dhabi I’m recognised. Being in that global community gives me a buzz. How you translate that into a job description I do not know!”
